The following Terms and Conditions apply to all photos submitted to Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (referred to herein as “Ruger”).

  1. You may submit a photo to www.rugerphoto.com only if you are 18 years of age or older and reside in the United States, Canada or Australia.
  2. You must submit all photographs electronically in digital format via the “Submit Photo” form contained on the www.rugerphoto.com website. All photographs sent to Ruger in any other manner, including email, regular mail, etc., will be discarded and will not be returned to you. Submitted photos must conform to the following Image Specifications.

    Only digital images submitted through the Submit Photo page will be accepted. Images files must be in JPEG format and may not exceed 2.5 MB in size. If you need to size down the image and do not have image editing software, we recommend using a service like Picasa™ from Google.

    Applying minor edits to an image, (i.e. color correction, sharpening, etc.) is permitted. However, images that have been dramatically manipulated or modified with photo editing software will not be accepted.
  3. By submitting a photo to www.rugerphoto.com, you certify that: the image(s) have not been copyrighted or, if copyrighted, that you are the copyright owner; that the photo is not in the public domain, and; you have obtained the release(s) required under paragraph 5, below. Copyright of the image(s) will remain the property of the photographer or, if different, the copyright owner. A credit will be provided with all images published by Ruger.
  4. By submitting a photo to www.rugerphoto.com you grant forever to Ruger and its successors and assigns the right to post the photo on the www.rugerphoto.com website, to use the photo throughout the world in its marketing and promotional materials in printed or electronic media, without limitation, and to modify or edit the photo and “Photo Information” submitted by you as Ruger sees fit, in its sole discretion.
  5. Before submitting a photo, it is your sole responsibility to first obtain a written release from any recognizable person in the photo. If the photo depicts a minor, the release must be executed by the minor’s parent or guardian. To download the release form to be used, Click Here. All required releases must be obtained before the photo is submitted and must be retained and made available to Ruger upon request. By submitting your photo, you hereby assign all rights to Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. as assignee.
  6. Ruger makes no representations or warranties that it will post any submitted photo on the www.rugerphoto.com website and has no obligation to do so. Ruger reserves the right to refuse to post any photo that depicts unsafe firearms practices, dangerous shooting situations, unethical hunting practices, or any other inappropriate subject matter. Ruger reserves the right to refuse to post a photo or to remove it from posting on the website for any reason, or no reason at all, in its sole discretion.
  7. You provide any personal information in the “Photo Information” section of the “Submit Photo” form on www.rugerphoto.com at your own risk. Ruger is not responsible for inaccurate, misspelled, or potentially embarrassing information posted from the “Photo Information” provided by you.
  8. If your photo is selected for posting on the www.rugerphoto.com website, you will receive from Ruger a $10 gift certificate that may be used towards the purchase of items directly from Ruger via the On-line Store at www.ruger.com or via Ruger’s Sportswear and Accessories Catalog. The gift certificate will be sent to you either via the e-mail or physical address provided by you when you completed the “Contact Information” section of the “Submit Photo” form on the www.rugerphoto.com website to submit the selected photo.

    When using the gift certificate to make a purchase through the On-line Store, enter the number on the gift certificate in the “Discount Codes” block of the Checkout Form.

    When using the gift certificate to make a purchase through the Ruger Sportswear and Accessories Catalog, simply enclose the certificate with your order and enclose the payment due for your order, less the face amount of the gift certificate.

    The gift certificate may only be used once in a single transaction in an amount up to its face amount
    . No refund or credit is available for any unused portion of the gift certificate if the total cost of the item(s) purchased (including shipping, handling and applicable taxes) is less than the face amount of the gift certificate.
  9. In addition to meeting the above conditions, in order for a photo to be eligible for use by Ruger in its marketing and promotional materials, you will need to do the following things.
    • Upon selection of your photo by Ruger for this purpose, you must provide the photo to Ruger in a format of sufficiently high resolution to be useable commercially in the sole determination of Ruger. Resolution of not less than 300 d.p.i. is requested. For this reason, it is recommended that when taking pictures for submission using a digital camera, you use the highest resolution/picture quality setting available on your camera. When scanning into digital format a photo taken in a film format, use a high-resolution scanner. Upon selection of your photo for this purpose, Ruger will provide instructions to you on how to transmit a high-resolution image.
    • You must provide to Ruger the release(s) you obtained from any recognizable person in the photo prior to originally submitting the photo in accordance with paragraph 3, above. The release(s) provided must bear the original signature of the person signing. You must assign your rights in the releases to Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.
    • You must provide to Ruger a written agreement authorizing Ruger to use your photo. This form will be provided to you by Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.
  10. If your photo is selected by Ruger for use by Ruger in its marketing and promotional materials, and you provide everything required in paragraph 9 within thirty (30) days, you will receive from Ruger in the manner described above a $500 gift certificate good towards the purchase of a single new Ruger firearm of your choice from the retailer of your choice. Alternatively, you may use this gift certificate to purchase merchandise other than firearms in a single order directly from Ruger, as described in paragraph 8, above. The following is the procedure you should follow should you wish to use the gift certificate to purchase a new Ruger firearm:
    • Purchase the firearm at a federally licensed retail dealer of your choice in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, or if purchasing outside of the United States, at a retailer in your country of residence in compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction;
    • Pay your retailer in full for your purchase; and
    • Send to Ruger at the address given below the following items:
      1. A copy of your receipt showing:
        • The name and address of the dealer from whom the firearm was purchased;
        • The name of the purchaser;
        • The model and serial number of the firearm purchased;
        • The purchase price, and;
        • An explicit statement that the firearm purchased was new.
      2. Copies of all paperwork that was required to effect the transfer to you of the firearm under the governing laws of the place of purchase; and,
      3. Your gift certificate.

    Upon receipt, Ruger will send to you a check reimbursing you for your purchase, up to the face amount of the gift certificate. If you paid for your firearm in any currency other than U.S. Dollars, you will be reimbursed in U.S. Dollars at the prevailing exchange rate for that currency at the time the reimbursement check is issued.

    The gift certificate may only be used once in a single transaction in an amount up to its face amount. No refund or credit is available for any unused portion of the gift certificate if the total cost of the new Ruger firearm purchased (including applicable taxes) is less than the face amount of the gift certificate.
  11. Ruger is not responsible if you are unable to lawfully purchase a firearm and will not honor or redeem a gift certificate in any manner other than as set forth above. A gift certificate may be redeemed only by the person to whom it was issued, and it is not transferable to any other person.
  12. Ruger reserves the right to change, amend or alter the www.rugerphoto.com website and/or these Terms and Conditions at any time, without notice to users. Changes to Terms and Conditions shall be effective immediately, and subsequent use by you of www.rugerphoto.com shall constitute your acceptance of these changes. Ruger reserves the right to deny access to www.rugerphoto.com to anyone at any time.
